Book in August — not January

Most schools don’t think about prom entertainment until winter. The smartest prom committees book their entertainment in August — before anyone else gets to their favorite performer. Many of our schools call us the day after their prom to rebook the same act for next year. If you have a date and a performer in mind, don’t wait.

Tired students at 2am? That's actually perfect

One of the most common concerns we hear: “The kids will be exhausted by the time the show starts.” Here’s the secret — a skilled hypnotist doesn’t wait for the energy to come to them. They bring it. And here’s something that surprises most people: a relaxed, tired audience is actually more open and more willing to participate. By the end of the night your students will be wide awake, on their feet, and talking about it all the way home.

Don't pre-arrange volunteers

Every year well-meaning prom committees try to line up volunteers in advance. Please don’t. One of the most magical moments of a hypnosis show is watching hands shoot up from the audience naturally. Our performers are experts at getting students excited to participate — you’ll be surprised how many want to get on stage.

Is hypnosis safe for high school students?

Absolutely. Stage hypnosis is a performance art that has been practiced professionally for over a century. Every Wand Enterprises hypnotist is trained specifically to work with high school audiences. Participation is always voluntary, content is always appropriate, and no student is ever made to feel uncomfortable.

What if students don't want to participate?

Watching is half the fun. No student is ever pressured to volunteer — participation is completely voluntary and always will be. Many of the biggest laughs of the night come from audience members watching their classmates on stage. The show works brilliantly for spectators and participants alike, and every student in the room will have a great time.

How long is the show?

Most shows run between 60 and 90 minutes. We also offer shorter 45-minute formats if your schedule is tight. Just let us know your timing when you reach out and we'll make it work perfectly for your event.

What does the performer need from us?

Typically a stage or raised platform, a microphone and sound system, chairs for volunteers (usually 30), and good lighting. Your performer will go over all the specifics with you after booking so there are no surprises on the night. We keep it simple — our performers are experienced enough to work with what most venues already have.

How far in advance should we book?

As early as August for the following spring. The smartest prom committees lock in their entertainment before anyone else gets to their favorite performer. Many of our schools call us the day after their prom to rebook for next year. If you have a date in mind, don't wait.

Are your performers insured?

Yes — every performer on the Wand Enterprises roster carries full insurance. That's non-negotiable for us. Your school and your event committee are fully protected, and you'll never have to chase us for paperwork.

How many volunteers are needed on stage?

Most of our performers request 30 chairs on stage — a golden rule established by our founder Jim Wand and carried on by the performers he trained. That said, we've filled stages with 80 volunteers for audiences of over 5,000. Your performer will discuss this with you before the event so everything is set up perfectly.

What types of shows do you offer for post-prom?

Stage hypnosis is our most popular prom act but we offer much more. Our full roster includes magicians, illusionists, mentalists, and comedians — all experienced with high school audiences and all clean and school-appropriate. When you call us we'll talk through your crowd and help you find the perfect fit. Many schools combine two acts for a longer evening of entertainment.
